It's intriguing to read how she formed the outline for her story. This is one of the very few stories to focus on a Elizabethan mystery that almost no other popular author has covered. Certainly it is a novel; even if there was an Arthur Dudley it was unlikely he survived the Inquisition's grasp.I had no trouble with the switch from Arthur's purported "diary" to the recountings of Elizabeth's and Leicester's actions. The change to an italic font made it easy.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.Couldn't put it down!By Joyously Retired TeacherI've watched too many Dateline episodes to really believe Arthur Dudley was the son of Elizabeth and Leicester, but it intrigues me that he COULD have been. The author has at least convinced me that it was possible, and that's why I couldn't stop reading. But then, I believed the Polish woman who claimed to be the Arch-Duchess Anastasia might possibly be telling the truth—until DNA proved she was not.But I liked the Queen portrayed as a real person, an imperfect, compassionate woman, and not the cruel dictator her father was. And Leicester her long-suffering, imperfect soulmate who never really loved anyone else.Maybe it didn't really happen this way. But maybe it did. Read it and see what you think!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.Above all else her love and devotion was always given first to EnglandBy Marilynn FasickA believable, but unproven, scenario that the rumors, and the facts seem to indicate that Queen Elizabeth had a son. Many lies changed the life of Queen Elizabeth I. She discovers the truth and endured many tragedies in her life that shaped her into one of the strongest ruler of England. Her e strong determined and cleaver mind made her reign one of the longest and most successful. Above all else her love and devotion was always given first to England.I like how the characters multi-dimensional personalities were brought out over their laugh time. Their expectations changed as they aged. They often hid their true feelings but their actions made their true emotions clear. A plot that was designed to bring the two closer actually went terribly wrong and nearly destroyed their long relationship. Yet while their relationship changed over the years the underlying love remained through-out their lives.See all 109 customer reviews... Descendants of WILLIAM the Conqueror (c.1028-1087) 2.
