Marie Force is showing her humorous side with this book, the fifth in the series. If you are already a fan of the McCarthy family, you will not be disappointed with this one. If you haven't read any of this series, do yourself a favor and start at the beginning with Maid for Love. Those of us that watch the calendars for the next installment realize that there will be familiar faces and some new ones in each story and look forward to it.This is Evan and Grace's turn for their happily ever after. Grace has recently had lap band surgery and has lost over a hundred pounds. She is dumped on the island by an old high school crush who had made a bet with his friends to bed "the whale", her rude high school nickname. Evan, being a noble McCarthy man, sees her in distress and comes to her rescue. As the story progresses, Evan tells Grace, "Aw, Grace. I think it's going to turn out that you're the one who rescued me."Not only do you get to read their story, you also get to reacquaint yourself with Mac and Maddie and kids, Big Mac and Linda, Grant and Stephanie, and even a glimpse of Ned and Francine. You will get to know a little more about Laura and Owen (their book is next!) and Tiffany and Blaine (I personally can't wait to read that one - it should be hilarious!). For Marie's many fans, this is like a family reunion that we've all been invited to attend. Not only do we get to talk to everyone, but we then get to go to her Facebook page and discuss the book. I have never seen an author so connected to all her fans like Marie is.So, sit back, relax, get in the island frame of mind and thoroughly enjoy the latest edition of the McCarthy's of Gansett Island. Grace is a woman learning to get comfortable in her own skin. Footlocker Evan is happy with his life until Grace. What a wonderful discovery they find in each other. Loved it. Ready for more Gansett Island.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.mediocre compared to the first books in the seriesBy Yvonne ChoiI've been reading through the series in order and one right after the other, and I've gotta say that this one just didn't do it for me. So this might be an unfair review because I could just be suffering from a bout of overkill which made me notice things I wouldn't have had I read these with any time in between, but this book was a little too much. Every book has the same phrases, such as he/she threw their head back and laughed, or he/she gave a ringing laugh. Every book is filled with physically perfect guys in their early 30s (who become emotionally perfect when they immediately fall in love with their women) and women who are flawed emotionally and feel flawed physically. I get that we're reading a fantasy but in this book I wasn't buying the main characters falling in love in one day and immediately pledging themselves to each other.So basically, I'd really recommend taking a breather between each book.
